Hey, i apologize for a dumb question, but what makes KI 2013 different from 1994 and 2 in terms of gameplay? I saw some videos, 2013 can have Combo of more than 100 hits. I played 1994 and 2, but what makes 2013's gameplay different? I never played it so, i know it sounds dumb. I know about 2 having Bars and Special Moves, and this, and that.

Don’t get me wrong Mk1 is good but looking at it now a reboot feels like everything was for nothing all these guest characters coming into just one game from a reboot seems as if there really is nothing laying ahead for mortal kombat I would’ve low key preferred if we got a mk12 that’s just my opinion tho

I'm mostly surprised all of these characters HAVE retro skins because not all of them have been in the franchise as long as the others. Sadira, Mira, Aganos, and Kan-Ra were introduced in this game so they hadn't been around long enough to be called retro.

I prefer the original design. I really despise their new design. But hey, that's just my opinion.

The art design changes are a mixed bag for me. I'll start with what I personally disliked. I think one thing I disliked in a lot of cases was the decision to take an ALMOST "dignified" or "regal" sort of demon and make it as gross as possible, or just menacing where such an expression didn't exist before. The Fool's Idol, Armored Spider, Adjudicator, Maneater, and Dragon God all fall into this. In the first case, the Fool's Idol sneering just doesn't seem capable of tricking anyone into following her. In the last case, the Dragon God is a God, and shouldn't have all these holes in it's wings. The Vanguard, Man-eater, Adjudicator, and to a lesser extent the flame lurker all came away looking like something Doomguy would be fighting rather than this particular slayer of demons. They lost that sheen that made them keep a little of their dignity and the details in the faces became more... generic? Maneater even lost his/their glowing breath. The old hero seems a little more "rage monster" and a little less "determined hero" in the remake, and then there's the storm king's little offspring, that just look meh and lost that colorful pattern that made them look beautifully alien almost like scales flickering off the main demon. Oh and the fat officials look more like followers of Nergul than just corrupted aristocrats. Ew... bring back the mask. Now for changes I liked. Tower Knight, Penetrator, and King Allant all kept their dignity and all their details were heavily expanded. I love that the King now had an opening in the front of his robes so he could actually look capable of fighting in that thing. The old monk manages to look MORE "holy" this time around, like a living buddha with a face that can actually move and show a few expressions. (Though I miss the enemy glow applying to the swirly towel hat too.) The ones that were intended to be gross from the start look appropriately gross now, and to that end I think the leechmonger comes off as a full on total upgrade to the original boss design. The new physics really work amazingly well showing them all moving independently throughout the "body" of the demon. Phalanx and dirty colossus as well come off looking all the better for the added details to those things. And oh yes, the true king at the end maintains it's "pathetic" appearance perfectly as befits the final pseudo-boss. Maiden Astaea and her loyal knight look wonderfully done too. I don't mind the more detailed more gruesome blood in that arena because it only highlights the disparity between her and her surroundings. I just... well it's hard to believe Garl spends most of his time just hanging out underneath a pile of corpses, though I suppose the cinematic in the PS3 version could be interpreted that way? He's sympathetic, not like... a ghoul though, so if anything I'd have done a scene of him holding onto one of the diseased people until they passed and then standing up. All in all, like I said... a mixed bag. I think ultimately I just wish this game let you hit a button to swap back and forth between old and new graphics/sound on the fly like in some modern remakes (Halo 1 and 2, Monkey Island 1 and 2, and even the recent Tomb Raider trilogy remasters do this). The gameplay and collision level layouts are almost identical, so it could be done here too. If Sony do decide to bring this to PC, this is the one major addition I'd ask for.

The Rebirth versions are exactly how my brain remembers them from 27 years ago in the original. Yeah, nothing changed.
